Stehekin

Stehekin is a secluded gem of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. It owes its isolated spot to its location on the northwest shore of Lake Chelan, a 55-mile lake surrounded by steep terrain. With no road access, travel to Stehekin is an adventure in itself. The town of Chelan, on the southeast shore of Lake Chelan, serves as an entry point for many visitors to Stehekin, where people can catch the passenger ferry, or charter a boat or airplane.

People are drawn to Stehekin because of the high mountain peaks, the clean air and water, and the quiet community of less than 100 permanent residents. Recreational activities include hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, boating, fishing, kayaking, and rafting. In the winter there is plenty of snow for skiing and snow-shoeing.

Getting around
There is one road in Stehekin that begins at the boat landing and travels the length of Stehekin. Walking and bicycling are the simplest ways to get around Stehekin. You can bring bikes on the ferry for an extra fee, or rent a bike at Discovery Bikes. There is also a shuttle that operates spring through fall to get you to and from activities.

Eating Out
Restaurants are only open during the summer months and accept cash only.

• Stehekin Landing Resort is a full service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Stehekin Pastry Company is a bakery and more—serving breakfast, lunch and fabulous treats!
• Stehekin Valley Ranch offers dinner by reservation in a rustic ranch environment.

Eating In
The Boulder Cabin and the Loft both have equipped kitchens and a barbeque. We recommend that you bring any groceries you need, because there is only a very limited grocery selection at the Stehekin Landing Resort.

Recreational links
The Courtney Log Office provides visitor information and reservation assistance for many recreational activities in Stehekin. The Stehekin Valley Ranch and Cascade Corrals host a variety of recreational activities from horseback riding to river rafting. Discovery Bikes has bikes for rent and package rides that include meals.
